Tour description

The tour starts in the center of Ebbs and leads via the Musikantensteig to the Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte. From there, you walk along the high trail along the Zahmer Kaiser to the Hochalm. Surefootedness is a must here, as you repeatedly cross scree fields. From the Hochalm you continue to the Stripsenjochhaus.
From there, you leave the classic run and first run downhill on mountain meadows before it turns into a flowing trail with forest floor. This is followed by a stream crossing (!) and a slightly ascending gravel road. Here you can take it easy until the ascent to the small Griesener Tor really gets down to business. Partly secured by ropes, this section requires absolute surefootedness! The highest point is reached at the Fritz-Pflaum-Hütte, surrounded by the countless peaks of the Wilder Kaiser. A very demanding downhill, which leads into the hut ascent to the Stripsenjochhaus and once again demands "all your energy", leads back to the remaining part of the traditional Classic Run route.
After the Stripsenjochhaus, a steep climb leads downhill to the Hans-Berger-Haus and further down to the Hinterbärenbad, also known as the Anton-Karg-Haus. The remaining section of the route mostly follows technically easy terrain through the Kaisertal, which was voted Austria's most beautiful place in 2016, passing numerous alpine pastures and inns. After the Sparchenstiege (Kaiser ascent steps), you then walk the final kilometers flat at the foot of the Zahmer Kaiser back to Ebbs.
